HOW DOES POLISHED CONCRETE WORK?

The finished details from a polished concrete that our Gold Coast clients love, is a detailed process. It is achieved by mechanically grinding the existing concrete surface using varying grit diamond tooling, usually starting at a 30-grit metal bond and going as far as a 3000-grit polishing pad to achieve a high gloss finish.


After we grind down the surface of the concrete floor to the desired aggregate exposure level. We then use a liquid grout to help fill any remaining cracks or pin holes. This ensures the final surface is perfectly smooth from edge to edge. We then increase the density of the concrete floor by using concrete densifiers. This is a product that helps to increase the durability of the concrete and its density by up to 10x. This helps to protect against cracking from impacts and small amounts of land movement.


After the concrete floor has been polished to a desired gloss level, we use a high-quality penetrating sealer to seal the surface, which is buffed off at completion. This protects the polished surface from any liquids penetrating and causing staining/discolouration.
